Valentines Day Suggestions to Make Your Sweetheart Happy

And Not Bust the Bank

With Valentines Day fast approaching, sweethearts everywhere are beginning to think of ways to show their love. For some folks it presents a problem. What to buy? What will she like? There's so much thrown at us via commercials that it can become confusing for anyone. Here are a few ideas to get all you befuddled lovebirds started!

Keep it simple. Put more thought than money into your gift.

Luxurious perfumed bubble bath and a nice robe for the woman who needs some relaxing downtime after a long day. Nothing says love like knowing how to help her relax.

Bake a cake or make cupcakes for the 'foodie' love of your life. Show her you care by cooking a decadent homemade dessert. Even if the kitchen is a mess when you're done, she will appreciate the effort.

Do something you don't normally do. If doing the laundry or cleaning the house isn't usually on your list of 'to-do's', take over for the holiday weekend. Make the bed and leave a sweet note with a chocolate on the pillow.

Show that you really do listen. Buy a book you know she's been dying to read. Grab a CD he has mentioned he would like. Then snuggle up on the sofa and have a long discussion about them. Giving of your time is sometimes the best gift of all.

Lingerie is great, but most of us don't live day to day in it. How about new socks and underwear? Everyone needs socks and underwear. Its one thing we often forget to buy ourselves until absolutely necessary. Refresh the underwear drawer and bring a smile to your special someone's face.

Take off work a few hours early and cook a meal to die for! Surprise him when he walks in the door with a drink and the aroma of his favorite meal. You know the old saying, 'The way to a mans heart...'

Run errands for her. Grab her dry cleaning, drop off her bills, run by the post office, etc. Give her homemade coupons she can redeem for errand running. She will appreciate it.

Make a donation in her name to her favorite charity. If she's a dog lover donate to the humane society. The amount doesn't have to be huge, every little penny helps and she will love knowing you know how much she cares.

It's all about letting that special person know how very special they are to you. Thought and a little time invested can help you pull off the most memorable Valentines Day ever. It's time to take the holidays away from big business and make them more personal and less costly. A 5 dollar card and a 20 dollar box of candy won't come close to equaling a romantic home cooked dinner.

I like the idea of donating to a favorite charity.
