The Gift is More Special If You Make It

Do it yourself (DIY)Valentine's day gifts that are easy to make. If your pockets are tight and you don't know what to get your significant other, just make it. I have come up with a few ways to make your Valentine's Day gift easy and inexpensive.

DIY Valentine's Gifts Ideas:

1. Cookies: During the holidays Pillsbury comes out with cookies for each special day, Valentine's Day especially. On February keep an eye out for Pillsbury's Valentine's cookies. The cookies usually have a heart decoration in the middle. They are simple, and easy to make if you just follow the directions in the back. After you bake the cookies, put them in a little tin, or take out box that you can find at your local craft store for under $3.00. This gift will be under $6.00, and your significant other will know that you put a lot of effort into them.

2. Picnic: If it is your year to plan Valentine's Day, set up a picnic! Picnics are fun, effortless and romantic. For your picnic you need to have a few finger foods that are easy. Make a sandwich plate for the two of you as main dish, put the tomatoes in a separate bag so that the sandwiches don't get soggy. Bake cupcakes the day before, and bring whipped cream to top them off, choose your favorite type of cake mix. Strawberries are a good idea, make sure they are clean and cut.

A little bit before your about to go warm-up the chocolate and put it in a thermal cup. I guaranteed that the chocolate will stay warm. Bring your favorite chilled champagne to drink, and don't forget the champagne glasses and a blanket! This gift will be under $20.00 dollars to replicate.

3. Collage: If you two have been dating for awhile you should have pictures laying around. Grab those pictures and make copies at your local Walgreens, digital print store or CVS. They run about $.29 cents a copy unless you saved the digital prints on your computer, then you can use the ones you've found. Get a piece of collage paper from your craft store that you like and cut & paste the pictures into a collage. Buy stickers, and get crafty! Make a nice collage that can be hung up, or framed for the two of you. I am sure it will be loved if it was made. This gift will be under $8.00

4. Candy Bouquet: Make a candy bouquet. Get skewers, green streamer, candy bars, vase, and hard foam(craft stores have them for fake flower boquets). This is unconventional, but funny and easy to make. You can get the vase, skewers and streamers from the DollarStore. Go to your local candy store and pick up about 5-10 candy bars depending on how big you want your candy bouquet. Get skewers, from the store, or around your home and glue/tape the candy bars to the top of the candy bars.

Right now they should look like candy bars on a stick. Wrap the green streamer around the stick, it should look like candy flowers. Stick your hard foam into the bottom of the vase and stick your candy flowers in. Decorate the vase so it looks legitimate and it will be loved! It is cute and effortless. This gift should range from $8.00- $13.00 depending on how much candy you want to put in your candy bouquet.

Have a great Valentine's Day!
