Valentine's Shouldn't Be Only Once a Year

James Kent
When it comes to love one day more than any other comes to mind and that's Valentine's Day. Whatever you're personally opinions it's difficult to not think about love on that special day on February 14th each year. Of course it's also a popular day for marriage proposals, so love is certainly in the air. With that all said is it right to have just one day a year dedicated to love and furthermore it doesn't seem right to me that not buying your lover a gift means you have failed them.

I may be an old fashioned sort of guy, but to me there is not much link between materialistic items in love. Maybe this assertion of mine is in fact wrong as every Valentine's Day best gifts, worst gifts is all we see. The question remains is buying gifts the way we express our love, my answer would be no it shouldn't be. I guess what am I getting at here is would rather see kissing, hugging and affection promoted at Valentine's Day.

Also is Valentine's Day sending out messages that love only matters one day a year I would sure hope not. Personally I do not need the excuse of Valentine's Day to love my fiancé. Love is about taking time and showing your special someone you really care. Whatever that means affection, talking, support or anything else. In my relationship I make everyday Valentine's Day not just one day a year. My fiancé is the most important thing in the world to me and I give here the attention and affection every second of the day. Love is the most precious thing in this world and to spend one day a year celebrating it is a true crime.

The fact of the matter is that large corporations make large profits of Valentine's Day by brainwashing us all. Something that comes from your wallet doesn't really come from your heart. After all money can't buy love. With all this said, if you spend a little more effort on your lover on February 14th why not do that year round. If you really love someone express it at every single opportunity. True love is the time you spend, the affection you give, share your love with acts of love not money. My advice to anyone is pretend Valentine's Day is year round.
