Valerie Bertinelli is Engaged to Tom Vitale

Valerie Bertinelli, the cute perky little gal that portrayed Barbara on the 1970's sitcom" One Day At A Time" is now familiar as the spokesperson for the Jenny Craig program. By 2007 Valerie's weight had ballooned to a bit over 170 pounds. She joined with Jenny Craig company and launched a public weight-loss campaign and lost 40 pounds as proof that the plan works.

An interview for AARP magazine revealed that she wears the popular "Bodybugg" to determine how effectively she is burning calories.

Reaching a milestone birthday this year, she commented that at age 50 we are not just older but smarter as well. Her marriage with rocker Eddie Van Halen ended as a result of Van Halen being arrested for drug possession. He was caught boarding a plane with her then 12 year-old son, while carrying a packet of cocaine in his wallet. Valerie and Eddie Van Halen shared custody of their son, Wolfie, who is now 19 and shares his fathers musical talent.

If your are interested in her experience with weight loss, she published her autobiography, Losing It: And Gaining My Life Back One Pound At A Time, which offers a description of her Jenny Craig experience. In 2009, she wrote a follow-up book Finding It: And Satisfying My Hunger for Life without Opening the Fridge. Valerie is looking good and appears to be taking good care of her health. She ran in the 26.2-mile Boston Marathon in April, completing it in 5 hours and 14 minutes.

Now emerging on a TV Land sitcom entitled "Hot in Cleveland." She co-stars with Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick, and Betty White. The sitcom reviews are not that favorable. Much of the comedy is stale and reflects the tired old jokes that appear to be borrowed from the former "Golden Girls" in which Betty White portrayed Rose Nylund, the witty native of St. Olaf, Minnesota.

Valerie is engaged to long time companion, Tom Vitale. Both of them are of Italian descent, offering many things in common. He has four children, one which lives with them and his other three children visit frequently.

Valerie and Tom are planning their wedding for sometime in the fall, no specific date or place has been announced and she is leaving the wedding plans in his care.

It should prove interesting to see what a hot Italian has planned for the special woman in his life.
