Valley Girl: The Next Generation

Omg, Ru Ok? Jk! [Translation: Oh My Gosh, Are You Ok? Joking!]

Sure, the Internet gives us a wide variety of information and communication outlets, but is it making us dumber in the spelling department? Is it really that much easier to exclaim, "OMG!" than "Oh my God!" (Actually, the kids say it stands for 'Oh my gosh'. They're not even bad ass enough to use the Lord's name in vain. Sheesh.)

I think it all started with that cell phone commercial with the pre-teen girl who texted so much that the wireless phone bill was too high. When her mother asked her who she'd been texting, the girl says, "IDK. My BFF Jill?"

A little look-see in the dictionary never hurt anyone.
