Valspar Paint and National Trust for Historic Preservation Partner to Document Historic Paint Colors

Valspar Authentic Historical Paint Colors Sold Only at Lowes

Megan Myers
Homeowners who would like to restore a historic home and desire authentic historical paint colors, can now turn to Valspar Corporation, an international manufacturer of paint and coatings based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Valspar partnered with the National Trust for Historic Preservation to document paint colors used in historical homes. The resulting palette, featuring over 250 historic paint colors, is sold only at Lowe's.

To see these historic paint colors, go to your local Lowe's paint color display and look for paint chips labeled with National Trust for Historic Preservation logo. Colors can also be seen at PreservationNation.org and Valspar's website.

A portion of all sales will be donated to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Valspar also supports the National Trust for Historic Preservation by supplying paint to historic sites. Photos and descriptions of prominent historical homes, including Woodlawn, a 126 acre estate in Alexandria, VA, originally part of George Washington's Mount Vernon, can be seen at Valspar's website. Along with the description and photos of each home, Valspar lists the paint palette used.

In addition to a palette of historic colors, Valspar's website also offers viewers the opportunity to "digitally" paint a room on-line, read many tips on painting a room, and view other collections by designers such as Laura Ashley and Ralph Lauren.
