Valuable Life Lessons from Paris Hilton

If Paris Hilton taught a class on how to live happily, these would be her guidelines:

1.) You should not place too much trust in your boyfriend (or girlfriend)

Though a rich socialite from the day she was born, it was arguably her infamous sex tape that made her quickly secure her spot as tabloid princess. In interviews after the tape surfaced, she insisted over and over again that she thought she could trust Rick Solomon (her partner in the tape), she had no idea that her trust would be betrayed, trust trust trust. What should we learn from this? Do not tape your most intimate moments and expect your boyfriend or girlfriend to not sell the tape once you have broken up. Simple as.

2.) Dressing like a superstar and having a sweet smile will get you anywhere

Those of us who have seen The Simple Life know that Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie both got themselves into several deep messes, and only got out of them because they were better dressed than their peers at the time. If they were in trouble with men, then a sweet smile would send them on their way. Of course, The Simple Life is most likely staged, but we can even look at their real life problems and see that this carries out quite well.

Both Paris and Nicole ran into trouble with the law, and though Paris ended up serving prison time, she almost got out of it several times. Nicole only served about an hour and a half. We can blame overcrowded prisons, or we could see what this really is: have money, dress nicely, smile sweetly, get out of jail (and other messes) for free.

3.) Your enemies might be your closest friends

Listening to celebrities these days, you would think that the paparazzi are the worst scum in the world. If it were up to the Hollywood elite, the entire staff of TMZ would be jailed! But Paris Hilton seems to embrace the paparazzi. If she sees them outside of Les Deux or Hyde, she speaks to the cameras-or at least waves. She never passes up an opportunity to get press exposure. Why? Because she realizes that even though she should hate the paparazzi, they are helping her career immensely. The same can be said for our average, everyday lives. Take a look at the person that you despise the most and think about how they might someday be able to help you. I am sure that you will think of something.

4.) All females are princesses inside

This might also include men. Not men are princesses, maybe men are princes? Paris did not really clarify that. She said in one of her books that she always pretends that there is an invisible crown on top of her head, and by doing this, she always remembers to get the regal treatment that she deserves (paraphrasing there). This is a very valuable lesson in self-esteem for young ladies today. A less subtle way of pretending to be a princess is actually wearing a crown on your head. If that is too blatant for you, try a tiara necklace. Experiment until you find the perfect combination!
