Vampires Myth and Reality

Information on Vampire Truth and Myth

Chance Motta
There are a lot of different myths and theories about vampires. It depends on whether you are talking about vampires in books and legend or real day vampires. First we can look at the myths.

Almost every culture in the world has had some form of legend having vampires. Many cases were reported of suicide victims coming back from the grave but the first traces can be brought back to the time of Adam and Eve. According to the Jewish texts Adam had a woman before Eve named Lillith but he asked for a new girl because she did not like being dominated with him on top. Lillith was banished, but god allowed her to remain and be mother to all demons. Angels let her feed on infants and she later married Kane.

Vampires are seen as needing blood to survive as most people know and die in sunlight in most myths although not all do. In the story of Dracula sunlight merely caused an irritation of the eyes. Vampires are also believed to be able to command a variety of animals such as wolves and bats. Many are believed to turn into bats and other such creatures at will.

Scientifically the vampire myth is explained by certain diseases and disorders. A blood disorder can cause one to constantly need new blood and sensitivity of the skin will cause one to remain indoors becoming fairly pale.
Modern day vampires come in different types. Modernly a vampire is considered one who feeds off of different types of energy and may feel a strange craving of blood. Some vampires are more then one type. For example a blood vampire may be a psi vampire.

Psi vampires are those who feed on energy around them such as other humans or even non living things such as music. Often these types of vampires are overwhelmed by too much energy and shy away from large groups. If a psi vampire doesn't have a source of energy to feed off of they will feel weak and drained though they will not die.

Blood vampires are closer to what we typically think of a vampire as. They find a strong craving for blood and often meet with people who will allow them to drink there blood. It is often but not always a sexual stimulation.

Sex vampires are just what they sound like. They feed off of sexual energy and with out this energy they often feel drained and weak.

I do believe the whole Vampire story actually comes from truth at one time. This goes so far back, it makes me believe that somewhere at sometime there was a blood needing fanged nocturnal something of human type walking the earth.
I have always had a interest in Vamps, and daydream about becoming one. A "good" one. LOL.
O that would be the day.

    Poorly researched, poorly written.

The author would have been better served doing some solid research on the myths, and providing at least a few sources there. Such as what books tell of Lilith marrying Kane. Also, listing actual disorders that may have caused people to be accused of being vampires, like Congenital erythropoietic porphyria which can cause "blood stained" teeth.

Even a list of classic "signs" of vampirism would have made for a better article rather than calling these new age vamp-fetishists' little sub-classifications "reality". Give it some time and we'll prove that it is just abnormalities in their brains' structure or chemical balances that make them thing they 'take energy' through sex or being in approximation with humans.

hey, Electra li Jade, do you believe there's vampire? can you tell me more about it?

  • mary 10/14/2008

people tend to believe only what they can see, feel and touch. Why would a vampire want people to know they are out there? Are they real? i dont know, maybe.. i know i would like to meet one and pick their brain..

  • You would love to know my name now wouln't you? 7/28/2008

Electra li Jade, you make it sound like you have been on Earth for centuries. If you claim that, then why is it that your spelling and punctuation is bad? If you have been around for a long time then wouldn't you know how to spell, and punctuate correctly? You would have had plenty of time to learn how to, and since computers have been around or almost 30 years, you would be use to typing correctly now wouldn't you?
