Vampires: Where Did They Originate?

Are Vampires Real?

Shana Dines
Where did vampires originate? Supposedly vampires originated in Transylvania. If you go to the website about the origination of vampires you will find not only as many different descriptions of what a vampire is but also as many different originations. Greece, Hungary, are just a couple of the places that have vampire legends.

Another website that you can find here will give you more information on a more familiar concept of what a vampire is. It also will explain to you the most popular way that one becomes a vampire according to the movies.

Vampires have always been my favorite monster. I suppose women especially like them because of the romance and lust that is associated with them. Women often like to fantasize about being dominated and overtaken. It isn't their fault then because it is beyond their control. If they give into to the passion of the vampire it is only because of their powerlessness.

One of my favorite vampire movies was the one with Jack Palance as Dracula. He was humanized over his grief and loss of his wife. His acting was superb. I don't think that any other actor was able to draw out the intense feelings for me as Palance in his portrayal of Dracula.

What is really horrific is that there are subcultures where people actually believe they are vampires and suck each other's blood. You may have seen these in movies, such as Blade. It is no laughing matter or is it fiction. The reality of people actually engaging in this behavior is blood curdling,( no pun intended0 as this is real horror.

I like Halloween and the mystery and fun of it. I don't like the reality of the horror that there are people who really celebrate Halloween in violent, horrific ways.

Great article :) I love stories about Vlad or just Dracula myths in general. I also had a person that used to think he was a vampire. It was pretty funny..

I knew a couple of people who thought they were vampires. I thought both were nuts. Both had fang implants.

Yes - the recent movies and TV shows may be entertaining - but you are right. There are people now trying to be vampires - that's scary!
