Van Halen Tour to Continue??????

Rumors were flying that Eddie Van Halen had a relapse into alcoholism and that the remaining tour dates on the Van Halen tour are going to be cancelled. According to the Boston Herald (http://www.bostonherald.com/entertainment/music/general/view.bg?articleid=1077552&srvc=rss) these rumors were contradicted by the band's publicist on the afternoon of Monday March 3rd.

Van Halen has postponed their Dallas, Cincinnati, Raleigh and Baltimore Dates. According to the Van Halen website (http://www.van-halen.com/news.html) "Van Halen concerts in Dallas, Cincinnati, Raleigh, and Baltimore have been postponed. According to Eddie Van Halen's physician, he is undergoing a battery of comprehensive medical tests to determine a defined diagnosis and recommended medical procedures."

It is well know the battle Eddie Van Halen has fought against Alcoholism, drugs and cancer. Supposedly the shock of Eddie's ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli's tell all book was enough to drive Van Halen back to hitting the bottle. Bertinelli's book reveals that she was not so innocent as commonly believed, and in her relationship to Van Halen she too has lived 'the rock and roll lifestyle' along with her husband.

Hopefully the band is remaining clean and sober. The current line up is comprised of Eddie Van Halen on guitar, son Wolfgang Van Halen on Bass, Brother Alex Van Halen on Drums and original singer David Lee Roth on vocals. Wolfgang, who is a teenager, should not be witness to his father's and his uncle's wild mayhem on the road. It must be tough enough that his mom disclosed in a book about her drug use and affairs. Perhaps it is just another day for Wolfgang who has grown up use to this drama.

Previous singers including Sammy Hager have stated that it was difficult playing with two brothers since they are so close knit. It must be even more difficult when your guitarist's son is playing bass in the band. I am sure it is the 'Van Halen way or the highway' for David Lee Roth.

Every long time Van Halen fan has become accustomed to the drama that is Van Halen. If they can complete this tour, it will be a miracle.
