Vancouver's Best Film Fest

Lily Wolf
The Vancouver Asian Film Festival Society is a nonprofit organization that provides a forum for independent North American Asian filmmakers to showcase their work for Asian and non-Asian audiences. All films are shown in English and cover the major genres most eager filmmakers want to explore.

The Vancouver Asian Film Festival strives to foster an understanding and appreciation of today's latest and greatest independent North American Asian filmmakers, and gives these artists a springboard to the larger film festivals going on in Vancouver. It represents the often ignored North American Asians caught between the two cultures of East and West.

Asian-North American filmmakers are producing films of mainstream quality. These up-and-coming filmmakers seem to be very confident, offering up some of the best films in Vancouver, with only a few of the festival's selections focusing on exploring ethnic roots. And if you love to party, be sure to stick around after the screening events to attend either the day or nighttime galas.

This annual festival offers up at least 14 program screenings, with about 40 feature films over a period of four days. Even though the festival is smaller than some of the others hosted in the beautiful city of Vancouver, it won't disappoint movie goers.

If you're in the Vancouver area during this amazing festival, be sure to check it out.
