Vanessa Hudgens, the beautiful young starlet of "High School Musical" fame, has had some naked "leaked" pictures pop up again (allegedly) on the internet in what is being dubbed "Vanessa Hudgens Scandal 2009." Back in 2007 (let's call it "Vanessa Hudgens Scandal 2007"), Vanessa Hudgens had some naked and semi-nude pictures "leaked" that nearly cost her a starring role in the third installment of the "High School Musical" trilogy. But after a very public Vanessa Hudgens apology, scandal solved, everything was fine in the Disney universe. It seems that the naked pictures are not of the greatest quality and may be a young woman who is a very close lookalike. These supposed Vanessa Hudgens "leaked" pictures are of a young woman in a bathtub, showing various body parts of the more private variety.

Some are saying that the pictures are not of Hudgens at all. Others are saying that it is Vanessa Hudgens, naked again and up to old tricks, engineering a publicity stunt with "leaked" pictures just before the release of her latest movie (the aforementioned "Bandslam," which debuts on August 14). Either way, they have become the Vanessa Hudgens Scandal of 2009 and, contrary to what some are saying, won't hurt her reputation at all.

The pictures may not enhance her reputation but they certainly will not hurt it. The pictures that caused the scandal back in 2007 were one of the most sought after items on internet. Vanessa Hudgens said that the naked pictures of her had been taken for private use and had not been meant for public viewing (which, of course, caused an increase in those of the public wanting to see them and also gave her plausible deniability).

There has been no official confirmation stating whether or not the pictures appearing all over the internet are of Vanessa Hudgens. There may never be. Truthfully, there doesn't have to be. The mystery of it will work in the starlet's favor.

Either way, confirmation or no, Vanessa Hudgens' latest "leaked" naked picture scandal (the 2009 incarnation) will work to her benefit. It gains her -- and anything associated with her -- publicity and exposure (so to speak). And if worked correctly by her handlers -- making no comment, not confirming the identity of the person in the pictures -- adds to the allure of Hudgens. There's nothing like a mystery, the beginnings of a conspiracy theory, the hint of a cover-up to nudge a scandal into full-blown controversy mode.

If found to be Vanessa Hudgens, the naked pictures of "Scandal 2009"can be written off as part of those days when she was into taking photos of herself naked. She still gets the publicity and the backlash will be minimal at best.

Because, in the end, they are just naked pictures of a woman.

Well... if they are of Vanessa Hudgens, "any woman" might not be the correct term. And therein lies the appeal, the reason why so many will try to find the Vanessa Hudgens Scandal 2009 "leaked" naked pictures online. Besides the sexual and the prurient, there is often a need to see that our icons are just as human as everyone else, to make them "any man" and "any woman."

What might be interesting to note is that Hudgens has signed on to play a hooker in an upcoming release, "Sucker Punch." She will be wearing "not a lot of clothes." She told the New York Daily News, "I think this is my time to really step it up and get to grow up. It will be somewhat different with the content and a few more foul words but that's the biggest difference."

That's a big difference from the squeaky clean image she and Disney promoted until the 2007 scandal.

Still, by the time "Sucker Punch" is released (sometime in 2011), Vanessa Hudgens will be at least 22 years old, the "leaked" naked picture scandals of 2007 and 2009 a couple years in the past. But who knows, there might be more naked pictures of Vanessa Hudgens (or someone that looks a lot like her) that can be strategically "leaked" to the internet in 2011, just in time for that new movie as well.
