Vanity

bw Frampton
Into the mirror, she goes again

with starry eyes and whispers, "I love you"

A score and one years when she steps inside,

and anxious to touch the blonde locks

If only she knew how cruel is the glass -

suns shall rise and moons shall pass

a hundred times faster in her world, while here

as she makes love to herself

Before she goes, she takes one more glance

at the lady she loves to see pose and dance

and the smile upon the face that she sees

could not possibly come from her own

She steps from the reflective glass to find

dust in her chamber that wasn't there before

The feeling of years that have stormed in mere moments

make her stumble onto the floor

Upon her hand, blue and brown

below the yellow sleeve of time tattered gown

that once was the white dress of a beautiful virgin lass

before time slipped away inside of the glass

Heather...thank you so much. It does have a lot to do with getting older but more along the lines of one who is too wrapped up with their own self love and letting time get away. I appreciate the read!
