---From Gathering Clouds, The prequel to RAIN
RAIN comes from The Hudson series written by world renowned Author, V.C. Andrews, which tells the story of Rain Arnold Hudson, who is a child conceived in a biracial affair between a black man and a wealthy white woman. The story is told in Rain, Lightning Strikes, and Eye of the Storm. The fourth book, The End of the Rainbow is the story of Rain's daughter Summer. The series had ended in only four books until a prequel titled Gathering Clouds was announced. That book is released alongside the movie adaptation of Rain, and reveals the story of Rain's birth mother.
As an aspiring writer and member of the AC community, I was excited to have had the opportunity to preview the movie RAIN. Not only does it have an A-list cast which includes Faye Dunaway (Bonnie and Clyde, Mommy Dearest), Robert Loggia (Scarface, Prizzi's Hono, HBO's The Sopranos), Brooklyn Sudano (ABC's My Wife and Kids), Giancarlo Esposito (Usual Suspects, Derailed) and Khandi Alexander (CBS' CSI Miami), it really does a great job at bringing the V.C. Andrews book to life. RAIN like many of the author's books address socially relevant issues which transcend time, race, gender and class. This universal approach to writing might explain why Andrews' books are published in 95 countries and 22 languages, with all of her (57) titles making the Top 10 New York Times Best Sellers list; with RAIN as no exception.
For those of you who might not be familiar with V.C. Andrews, she wrote many fictional books with "Flowers in the Attic" being one of her most famous. After her death from breast cancer at age 62 in 1986, her estate hired a ghost writer, Andrew Neiderman to expand her work using plans she had left behind. Her career as a writer began after she became crippled from the waist down, which was a result of an accident. This life altering experience, confined her to her mother's home and serving as the catalyst to her writing career. Her first letter to a publisher was for Flowers in the Attic, which earned her a $7,000 advance.
RAIN, continues the legacy of world-class American Novelist, Cleo Virginia Andrews (V.C. Andrews) bringing her work to a new generation and many others through the DVD release. RAIN is a classic yet modern story that weaves together the elements of forbidden love, individual identity, blackmail/extortion, acceptance and ultimately triumph over adversity.
RAIN.....a nice add to any movie collection!

I just viewed the movie. I read the first two books in the Rain installment. I love books so I become a little skeptical when they become movies, but it was good. I actually enjoyed it. Good Job!! A long time coming.
Love that poem. I think I read one VC Andrews book just to see what my daughter was into~she had all of them. We were just talking about that last month.
