here, read what they have to say, and sign the petition. In case you do not know, Vector Marketing/Cutco is a cutlery company Vector Marketing/Cutco works on an order-only basis. Vector/Marketing/Cutco "hires" their staff from kids just out of high school and just out of college. Now as smart and savvy kids nowadays may think they are, they need to realize that Vector Marketing/Cutco is using them. The workers are told that they will receive (as I knew the price) ten dollars for each appointment where they schedule and show the cutlery. This sounds like easy money, but these appointments are not as easy to get as one may think. They do not just "fall out of the sky." If you happen to have a large family that helps, however I do not know if the worker is restricted as to how many in their family they can have as appointments.
Another problem is the price of Vector Marketing/Cutco cutlery. It is very expensive. Unless you are a professional chef, you probably will not need cutlery of this quality.
The worker is "invited" to get some cutlery at a reduced price. Yes it is a good price but this is one way that Vector Marketing/Cutco is making their money. The worker needs to earn money not spend it.
Of course what Vector Marketing/Cutco is probably hoping the worker will do is go door-to-door and attempt to sell their product. I am glad my daughter realized this is dangerous.
The biggest problem with Vector Marketing/Cutco is that their office closes down after the summer that they hire you. There is no way to get in touch with them. My daughter's "office" had a good-bye party. She left a bowl there and tried to get it back. Obviously this was not possible.
If the worker wants to sell after the office has closed down, they may do so but must contact the main office and submit their order. When my daughter was working she was not even told how to go about doing this.
I want you to think about this. If there was a doctor that opened up an office, did business for a while, then closed down, and you were not able to get hold of them, and then opened up another office would you keep going to this doctor?

Post a CommentThere are many who are raising valid concerns about Cutco/Vector, however it seems that many are posting comments with a misconception about what this company is all about.
1. Cutco has over 15 million customers and I believe it is just as important for a homemaker to have high-quality tools for the kitchen as it is for a chef to have the tools he/she needs. Therefore, these are not "knives for chefs" they are truly designed to be a solution to the problem of planned obsolescence which plagues the cutlery industry.
2. Representatives are no longer required (as far as I know) to place ANY kind of deposit or pay anything for their sample kit. I KNOW this to be the case in my town, and I'm pretty sure that is true NATIONWIDE.
3. Representatives are paid for EACH APPOINTMENT even if no sale is made. There is a commission component, but the reps can make NO LESS than the base pay.
Pretty hard to read some of these comments... since the spelling is so poor. I enjoy my CutCo knives - maybe selling them isn't the way to go, but I've had mine for 15 years and they are great.

CUTCO IS A SCAM!! DON"T WORK FOR THEM!! THEY DON"T PAY YOU, THEY LIE TO YOU, THERE MEETINGS ARE BORING. THEY"RE COMPLETELY A SCAM!
If you work for this company just know its a complete SCAM. I know because I worked for it in the summer of 2010. I didn't get paid for my appointments that I was "guaranteed" ($17.75). I live in NYC and I took MTA to go to almost all my appointments located in Brooklyn, Manhattan and parts of Queens. The MTA fare is $2.25 and I never got paid by my manager. Its a SCAM. I only got paid on commission from the company itself. Ohhh and if they tell you that if you sell something that's less than $17.75 in commission you will get that $17.75 they're lying. I made a small sale once about $75 on 15% Commission and I made $11.25 instead of the $17.75 I was guaranteed. It really depends on the manager you have. My manager didn't pay anyone including me. I stayed even though I wasn't getting paid but I minimized my appointments to the area I lived just to get more of how the company works. Don't waste your time working for them. Their product line is good though but on the extra expensive side.
A few years ago a friend of mine was selling Cutco. He asked me to let him show me the knifes. I kept telling him no because I wasn’t working and hadn’t been working for a while and could not afford to buy anything. I didn’t want to waste his time. He kept telling me I didn’t have to buy anything because he got $15 just to show me the knifes. I finally gave in and let him come over and show me the knifes. I let him know I had no intention of buying any because we were really short on money because I had been out of work for a long time. Well this kid came over and really was pressuring me to buy anyway. It really made me mad because he knew I wasn’t going to buy any. He even said “wow, even (another friend) bought a couple of knifes,†trying to embarrass me into buying them. Now I guess I know why he felt such pressure to harass me.
they just gave me a call today good thing i looked it up cause the lady sounded kind of weird.i new it was a scam. im from mercedes tx.
Funny how the anonymous works for the company, but couldn't be bothered to put their name!
