Vegan Christmas Appetizer Recipe Ideas

Lauren Romano
Appetizers are wonderful bits of food that keep hungry guests from gnawing on napkins out of pure hunger. Many recipes call for some type of animal product ingredient, so it can be a challenge for vegans to find delicious appetizer recipes to serve. Instead of searching through thousands of recipes, here are some of the best ones I've located that can satisfy both vegans and meat-lovers at Christmas.

"Easy Stuffed Mushrooms"

This recipe makes about 24 mushrooms, however, considering how popular these typically are at parties and how delicious they are, you may want to make more. Only six ingredients are needed and the recipe is incredibly easy; basically all it requires is mixing everything together, stuffing it in the mushrooms then baking it. Even those that are cooking challenged will have an easy time.

"Grilled Artichokes"

These are a good option for a sit down Christmas dinner as opposed to a regular party. The main ingredient is obviously the artichokes, but the rest of the items such as balsamic vinegar, lemon juice and olive oil, you probably already have in your kitchen. The recipe makes 6 artichokes and takes about an hour to make.

"Eggplant Sun Dried Tomato Spread"

This recipe requires two pounds of eggplant, so it calls for the use of a very large frying pan otherwise you will have to make two batches. This recipe requires few ingredients, such as sun dried tomatoes, parsley and basil, so it makes an easy-to-make delicious Christmas appetizer. Serve it with crackers or pita chips.

"Potato Balls"

If you want a little spice in your appetizer, among additional ingredients, this one calls for chili powder and chilies. They aren't the healthiest considering they're deep fried, but they're good enough to allow yourself a break. These are great for kids depending on how they handle hot spices. The prep time is about 40 minutes and it serves four.

"Vegan Cream Cheese Log"

This recipe is not only vegan, but also gluten free so even more guests can enjoy it. It's an excellent option for a quick appetizer when you need just one more thing to serve and don't have time to run to the store. Chances are you already have the majority of these ingredients at home, including the paprika, garlic and black pepper It takes only about 10 minutes of prep time and 30 minutes in the freezer.

With vegan recipes as delicious as these being served at Christmas, chances are the meat-lovers will barely notice the lack of animal products. They may not be able to say much with a mouthful of your scrumptious food.
