Vegan Christmas Dessert Recipe Ideas

Lauren Romano
The Christmas season is filled with decadent desserts, so how can you make yours stand out from all the others? Skip using animal products, which can help make some desserts a bit healthier and make them available for vegans to eat. Instead of searching through thousands of recipes, here are some of the best dessert recipes I've located that can satisfy the sweet tooths at Christmas of both vegans and meat-lovers.

"Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups"

This recipe comes from Alicia Silverstone's book "The Kind Diet." The recipe makes 12, but I suggest you make more than that unless you want to wrestle your guests for the last one, which will completely ruin the Christmas spirit even if you do win. It requires only seven ingredients including non-dairy chocolate chips and crunchy peanut butter. Their appearance and taste also makes them Christmas gift-worthy for some lucky recipients.

"Vegan Red Velvet Cake with Buttercream Frosting"

Instead of searching bakeries for the perfect cake, consider making this easy one yourself. It also tends to add a more personal touch when you make the dessert. The white and red of the cake match perfectly with Christmas as well. The recipe requires several ingredients, but a couple of them you use to make both the batter and frosting and many you probably already have in your pantry. The cake is large enough to serve 8-10 people.

"Vegan Gingerbread Cut-Out Cookies"

You can have your Christmas gingerbread cookies and still have them be vegan. Some delectable ingredients including cinnamon, pure vanilla extract and ginger help make a chewy cookie that you can decorate to look like adorable gingerbread men or women. Other than chilling the dough for a few hours, they take less than 30 minutes to make including prep time.

" Dark Chocolate Mousse"

With five ingredients and a blender or food processor, you can make a creamy and chocolatey dark chocolate mousse that serves six. It literally takes minutes to make so you can whip this up when you get an unexpected invite to a Christmas gathering or to serve at one of your own. Make sure to give it time to chill in the fridge after you make it.

These recipes are proof that whether you're a vegan or are expecting them at your Christmas party, you can still eat and serve amazing desserts. In many cases, you cannot even tell that there are animal products missing from the recipe.
