Boca Ground Crumbles are higher in protein and lower in fat and calories than their Morningstar Farms counterpart (Morningstar Farms Meal Starters Grillers Recipe Crumbles), as well as having a slightly superior taste and texture. Boca Ground Crumbles are also a good source of iron and are an excellent protein source for vegans and vegetarians, as well as flexitarians or meat eaters working to incorporate non-meat protein sources into their diet.
I have used this product for as long as I can remember and love the consistent results and versatility. Boca Ground Crumbles are perfect for making vegan meatloaf and are easy to incorporate into tacos, taco salad, chili, pasta sauce and any other burger-based dish you can imagine. I tend towards a savory, comfort foods cooking style and find these Ground Crumbles very complementary to the dishes I prepare.
They come in both a regular version and one that is made with natural ingredients. I have used both and have not noticed any significant difference in flavor, texture or consistency of results. As with most product lines, the natural ingredients variety generally has a slightly higher price point; however, folks who focus on incorporating organic and natural ingredients into their meal planning should not find this cost prohibitive.
The Boca website (bocaburger.com) lists several recipes for their Ground Crumbles, as well as their other products, and is a great resource for vegan and vegetarian meal planning. While not all of Boca's products are vegan, they offer a solid product line of vegan and vegetarian products and clearly label them vegan or vegetarian for your shopping ease.
Overall, Boca Ground Crumbles are a healthy, tasty addition to any meal and a great source of low fat protein and iron. Each box comes with three conveniently proportioned pouches and you will find that you can combine them with just about anything in your pantry for a quick, healthy meal. I always have Boca Ground Crumbles in my freezer and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great non-meat protein source for anything from lean, healthy meals to your favorite comfort foods.
