It is very healthful and delicious. Though it takes time to prepare this recipe, many Asians love to do it because they love the taste of it. You can also make variations of the vegetables to use for your lumpia.
Here are the things you need to prepare. You need, lumpia wrapper. 1 lb green beans or kinchay, 1 lb ground beef or you can substitute vege crumbles or ground burger if you are vegetarian, green or red pepper finely sliced, regular size onion diced , 2 cloves garlic diced, 1 regular size carrot sliced, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1tbsp oil to cook your vegetables and salt to taste. You can add spices or flavoring if you want.
Here's what you are going to do. Saute' garlic and onion in 1 tbsp oil until brown. Add ground beef or ground burger and cook until beef is tender. Add a little water in it. when beef is tender, add the vegetables. beans, carrot and pepper. Add soy sauce and salt to taste. Don't over cook your vegetables. Take it out from your stove when it is half cooked. Let it cool for few minutes before you wrap it. Prepare your lumpia wrapper. Put 1-2 tbsp of cooked vegetable in the lumpia wrapper then wrap it. When all vegetables were wrapped, prepare your skillet and oil for deep frying. You can use deep frying dish fo fry your lumpia. Meaning you have to use enough oil for deep frying. Be sure the oil covers your lumpia when you fry it. Fry your lumpia in medium heat until crispy brown. Remove it from your frying pan and put in a strainer to eliminate the oil or put it in a tissue paper so that oil from your lumpia will be absorbed by the tissue paper. Serve it while hot and crispy. You can serve it plain or with sweet and sour sauce or any dressings you like.
Variation for the vegetable. Instead of green beans, you can use bean sprouts. 1 lb of bean sprouts, 1 lb of ground beef, onion, garlic, oil to cook your bean sprouts and beef, soy sauce and salt to taste. You can use your favorite flavoring to add the taste of your vegetables. Same procedure above, saute' your sliced garlic and onion in 1 tbsp of oil, then add your beef or burger if you are not using meat, add a little water to cook your meat. when beef is tender, add the bean sprouts. Add soy sauce and salt to taste then you can add your favorite flavoring like beef flavor or etc. . Let it cool and wrap it with the lumpia wrapper. Follow the same procedure for deep frying. Drain your lumpia and serve hot and crispy.

If you will go to the Filipino store, you can find all the ingredients of this recipe specially the lumpia wrapper. This recipe is very palatable that many people love to have it during parties. If you know how to make it, you can have it anytime you want.. It is not hard to make. It only takes time but it is very delicious. You will love it.
There is another variety of lumpia where you don't need to fry it. You can eat it fresh. We call it Fresh Lumpia. You just cook your vegetables and wrap it with the fresh lumpia wrapper and serve it. You can use any vegetables you like to be wrapped in your lumpia wrapper but the vegetables suggested above were proven tasty.
My husband really like to eat lumpia. Since he loves to eat spinach, I used spinach for my vegetables. 1 lb of spinach frozen or fresh cut, 1 lb of ground burger, I used Boca crumbles, oinons, garlic, soy sauce and salt to taste. I used my favorite flavoring to add the taste. simply saute' the garlic and onion then add the ground burger. Add a little water and cook it in low fire in 2 minutes. Add the cut spinach. Don't over cook. Let it cool and wrap it. Deep fry until crispy brown.
Serve hot even without sauce or dressings, it taste good. Boca crumbles and spinach, you can find it in any grocery store like Walmart or etc.
If you don't want to eat oily food, you can bake it until it becomes crispy and brown. Always serve it hot and crispy. It really makes a difference when you eat this
not hot or crispy. If you can find the fresh lumpia wrapper, the better so that you can avoid much oil in your food.
