Detroit Area, MI 48067
United States of America
One of them is right down the street in my city, Royal Oak. The Inn Season, located in a bright yellow building at 500 E. Fourth Street, 248-547-7916, is just a few short blocks from the hustle and bustle of the Main Street bistros and bars. The Inn Season has been around for twenty years, and is a favorite of vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The food is freshly prepared and inventively so. The restaurant claims to not use microwaves in preparation. They are also able to prepare vegan dishes. The Inn Season offers daily specials, which you can check by calling. Vegetarian dining here isn't cheap. The Inn Season will take reservations for six or more and will accept all major credit cards.
Another choice for vegetarian dining would be the Little Tree Sushi Bar, 107 S. Main Street, 248-586-0994. Having dined there before for sushi, I would say "skip the sushi" (which is rather lackluster and not very authentic) and head for the other offerings here. The menu is pan-Asian and though not strictly vegetarian, there's plenty for the vegetarian palate. Little Tree also accepts all major credit cards.
Wandering away from the Royal Oak area, try Salad Wrappers in Dearborn. Salad Wrappers is located at 1041 Howard, Dearborn, 48124, 313-359-2000. Unlike many area vegetarian establishments, Salad Wrappers is economical as well. It's a popular lunch spot featuring salad bowls, wraps and fruit smoothies. Open Monday through Saturday, Salad Wrappers accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover.
Anita's Kitchen at 110 W. Maple, Troy, 48084, 248-362-0680, has also been a local favorite for ten years. Located at the corner of Crooks and Maple (15 Mile), Anita's Kitchen is vegetarian with a Lebanese flavor. If you're a fan of Mediterranean cuisine and would like to eat healthfully, this restaurant is a good choice. The mood is casual. Anita's Kitchen accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover. There are plans to open another restaurant in Ferndale. You can get more information by going to www.anitaskitchenonline.com.
Finally, if you can't find a restaurant to suit you, there is always MooMoo's. MooMoo's Organic Bistro is located at 14929 Charlevoix, Detroit, 313-331-6667. MooMoo's web site (www.moomoosbistro.com) is enough to make a person want to go vegan. The site is light, airy, and inventively designed with "nutrition facts" on every dish available. MooMoo's offers a wide variety of vegan and gluten free meals, and many of them are quite delicious, including the black bean and Pacific burritos, the roasted cashew stirfry and the zesty lemon pasta. MooMoo's products are currently located only in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Illinois and Missouri, and you can find current retailers by going on the site.
