Vegetarian Dining Options While Visiting Walt Disney World
A Helpful Resource for Vegetarians Visiting Disney
When it comes to resort dining, take advantage of locations offering a custom array of food. A good location to visit is the Trail's End Buffeteria, located on the grounds of Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground. The buffet has many menu items such as: macaroni and cheese, pizza, mashed potatoes, fruit, muffins, vegetables, salads, and soups. They also offer a soup and salad only buffet for anyone who is interested in lighter fare. Moderate resorts, such as Disney's Port Orleans Riverside and Disney's Caribbean Resort offer spaghetti, cheese pizza, veggie burgers, fruits, vegetables, cheeses, and baked goods. Many moderate and value-priced resorts also have nightly specials. While they include a meat entree, any item at Disney can be ordered a-la-carte. Some choices that are offered include: mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, baked beans, and rice. One of the best locations for vegetarian dining choices can be found at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. The Pepper Market has individual items for sale and a person can customize their meal by selecting items from various internationally themed food stations.
Should you visit Epcot, many choices for vegetarians are available, particularly in the World Showcase region of the park. Germany has very large pretzels that are reasonably priced, while Morocco has some traditional vegetarian fare that is served with a side of entertainment. For Asian cuisine, China has vegetable lo-mein, while Japan offers vegetable tempura. For a real treat, be sure to visit The Land pavilion. Many of the fresh fruits and vegetables served in the restaurants here are grown in the adjacent greenhouse.
Another excellent choice for vegetarian diners is Disney's Animal Kingdom Park. The Tusker House is a restaurant that has many side items that are vegetarian in nature. When combined together, this presents for an excellent, healthy meal. There is also a pizza restaurant (Pizzafari), and fruit stand (Harambe Fruit Market). For a character meal, Donald's Breakfastosaurus offers a breakfast buffet with non-meat items such as: pastries, fruits, cereals, muffins, oatmeal, and assorted juices.
In the end, if you are unsure about whether or not a particular restaurant would be a wise choice, call the Disney dining hotline at (407) WDW-DISNEY. There, someone can help locate a vegetarian eatery, accept dining reservations, or discuss special dining requests (such as vegetarian meals). With a little advance notice, the people at Disney can accommodate just about any dining need or preference.
