Vegetarians: Another Eating Disorder?

Rik Rodriguez
Many of the so called vegetarians today that I have been meeting seem to be very closed minded. This seems odd to me because the vegans that I knew in the past were very open minded and tolerant of other people's eating habits.

But many of todays dietary modifications and preferences have turned into obsessive eating disorders. People look un healthy but are still spouting the benefits of not eating animal products. I can not think of one vegetarian that looks healthy. I am not talking about rich celebrities. They can afford to eat a proper vegetarian diet. I am talking about the average person that thinks they are going to live longer because they are not eating animals.

They are either unaware of the basic principles of surviving without eating animal products. When I choose not to eat meat for 7 years my body fat increased. I was eating more processed foods that didn't contain meat. More starch and carbohydrates. More vegetable fats. I had less endurance even though I knew the companions of vegetables and carbohydrates to eat. My body didn't function like I wanted it to,because there is very little nutrition in most of the food that we eat, I took supplements. For me after 7 years it just didn't make sense to be vegan.

Even today I look around at most of the vegans I know and they do not seem healthy mentally and physically. As they choose to restrict their food intake they seem to also restrict their conscience. While many of us still choose to eat meat for what ever reason. In general I feel healthier when I eat some animal protein in my diet. I am not obsessive about it nor do I try to control what other people eat or are tiring to eat. This seems to be the way of many devout vegetarian's. They like to tell everyone else what they should be eating while they look unhealthy and lack energy and stamina. While I have never criticized anyone for what they are eating. Well unless they are complaining that they are over weight and ill all the time. Its important to find out what your body runs well on. Learn not just what you like to eat but what makes you feel good and allows your body function like it should. Its important to know how foods make you feel. Try to decide for your self what foods are good for you and which are not. Never let anyone else tell you what you can and cant eat. You are what you think you are not what you eat.
