In Orlando vegan restaurants are taking off, one of the most popular places is the Loving Hut. Although the menu reads like a typical Asian-type place all the "meat" you see is not meat at all. It's seitan, tempeh, tofu... something... Even though the vegan substitutes are shaped like shrimp or beef slices, you can be assured they are not actual flesh.

The little complimentary veggie soup came out first. Delicate, light. Good palate cleanser but ultimately unremarkable.

The summer rolls are a great start your meal, but the appetizers and entrees arrive all at once. Summer rolls contained some extra crunchy something-or-another. Yummy, but I prefer the ones across Viet Town at Little Saigon (of course, those aren't vegan). However, the pho was some of the best I've ever had. Just as sumptuous and complex as any meat-based soup. The portion was so big, you will surely have enough for leftovers.

I was impressed by the artful way the food was displayed. Everything looks as beautiful as it tasted. Not something you would expect from counter service.

Finish up with the "flan." Obviously no eggs are used (they said it was soy milk and molasses). It was sweet and creamy - not cloying. It also was topped with some sort of icy molasses sno cone topping.

Total for the 3-person meal plus a hot tea and an organic root beer (YUM) was about $35. I wouldn't call it cheap, but it's affordable.

I love the Loving Hut. Although, I suspect it may be a front for funding a cult. I'm actually OK with that. Because the food is good.
