Veggie Tales Worship Songs: Fun, God-Honoring Music for Children

Rebekah Haas
Veggie Tales has grown extremely popular, and many American households are familiar with Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber. In fact, a major network even airs the Veggie Tales shows on Saturday mornings now. With fun memorable characters and great moral lessons, kids really get into these cartoons. There are also a number of Veggie Tale sing-a-long CD's out now, and these are very entertaining for children whether listening to them at home or in the car.

Recently my son received the Veggie Tales Worship Songs CD as a gift from his grandparents, and after listening to it a few hundred times in the car on the way to and from his preschool or the grocery store, I have to say it is a wonderful CD for both children and adults. The songs are arranged tastefully, yet in a fun way that the children will enjoy. The adults will be familiar with these worship songs as well, making it easy for them to want to sing along with their children. The CD retails for around $10-12.

Songs included on the CD are:

1. Come, Now is the Time To Worship
2. God of Wonders
3. Better is One Day
4. Thy Word
5. Blessed Be Your Name
6. Forever
7. You Put this Love in My Heart
8. I Could Sing of Your Love Forever
9. I am a Promise
10. In the Secret (I Want to Know You)
11. Seek Ye First
12. You are Holy

Of course, between the songs there is narration about worshipping God and all that it means, what each song is about, and more. Christian artist Matt Redman makes a special guest appearance to the Veggie Tales "choir rehearsal". Matt performs "Better is One Day" and "Blessed Be Your Name" with the Veggies. It is also nice to hear the classics like "I am a Promise" and "Seek Ye First"-songs that adults will remember from when they were children. Kids will enjoy hearing the veggies talk and interact, as well as the upbeat music.

Some children's CD's are truly hard for an adult to listen to, but I will even pop this in the CD player to listen to myself, for a time of personal worship and praise. I also feel great knowing that my son is learning songs that teach him about God's love and the reason that he exists (to glorify and praise God).
