Venison Steak Fajita Recipes

Emily Mathews
As hunting season comes to a close, I am always thinking of creative ways to use up our venison from the previous year. No one likes to see food go to waste. The Crock-pot is a perfect tool for cooking venison because of it's ability to make the meat so moist and tender. Here are two recipes that will make your dinner plans virtually effortless. One is in the Crock-pot and one is a stove top recipe.

This recipe is easy, quick to put together and delicious. If you are having a get together with fellow venison eaters this is a great option because it can serve up to 8 people. If you have leftovers, it can be frozen and reheated in the Crock-pot at a later date.

You will need the following:
Crock-pot
2 Venison steaks (frozen)
3 cans of diced tomatoes with chilies
1 pack of fajita, chili, or taco seasoning
1 tbs minced garlic
1/4 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp garlic salt
1/4 cup water

Put all the ingredients in the Crock-pot for 8-10 hours. You can turn it on before you go to work and you will have a mouthwatering dinner ready for you when you come home. The meat will be extremely tender and have a nice heat to it. Serve in warm soft-shell tortillas with shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa and chopped green peppers or whatever you like on top of your fajitas. Rice is a great side dish with this recipe. You can also put the meat on nacho chips with your favorite toppings.

If you don't want to use the Crock-pot here is another easy way to make Venison steak fajitas.

For this recipe you will need the following:
1 Venison steak (thawed)
2 tbls vegetable oil
1/4 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp garlic salt
1/4 tsp chili powder
1 red bell pepper
1 green bell pepper
1 medium onion

Thinly slice steak and add to warm oil in frying pan. When cooked half-way, add seasonings. In a separate frying pan add 1 tablespoon of oil, when warm, add peppers and onion. When steak is cooked, add peppers and onions. Serve in warm soft-shell tortillas with shredded cheese, and sour cream. This recipe also goes well with rice.
Enjoy!
