It used to be that anyone with a tie, business plan, and smile could secure enough venture capital to set up shop and start making profit. However times have changed. Venture capitalist have been burned enough to know which people are passionate and who is trying to skate by. Especially in today's economy venture capitalist have had a hard enough time as it is to procure their funds to frivolously throw it away on half baked business dreams. However that doesn't change the fact that venture capital is still great capital to get your business rolling on and that there is s-till many venture capitalists looking to invest in people with great ideas to exploit markets. You need to know the most effective way to approach venture capitalist in light of the economic downturn.

Many small business owners have been scarred away by venture capital in spite of the recent down turn. There are many concerns as to whether the venture capitalist will be able to come up with the funds promised as there are a lot of small business owners who have been burned by venture capitalists as their funds run dry because of some unrelated circumstance. The main reason people are afraid to seek venture capital has to do with their own business. For instance, maybe business owners believe that their plan is little more than a pipe dream and the harsh rejection from a business big Whig will be too much for them. The fact is that you need a good business plan to seek venture capital. Scour your business plan for any holes that will stop you from receiving small business financing. If you have studied long and hard and haven't found any problems then be confident. If a venture capitalists can poke some holes in your dream, then that's a good thing, because they are making your business better.

Fluff isn't going to sell your business plan to a venture capitalist, fact is. You need to prove two things in your meeting with the venture capitalist. 10 Your business has long term viability and 2) your business has profitability. You should already have those things proven to yourself before you even set out to procure small business financing from venture capitalists. If you already have it worked out then it should be easy for to present your business plan in concrete terms to the investor waiting at the wings fro a good investment to come their way.
