Venus Williams US Open Outfit 2010 Brings Better Luck Than French Open Outfit

Venus Won Against Schiavone, but What About Clijsters?

Venus Williams' US Open outfit during the 2010 Grand Slam tournament in FlushingMeadows brings better luck than her French Open outfit. Perhaps she was more distracted by the constant gossip centering on her French Open outfit -a black negligee - than the actual game itself.

Although everyone's been chattering about her choice of attire for the US Open 2010 Grand Slam, she seems to have had better luck. The bright pink see-throughish tight dress with fireworks on it paid off bigger than the risqué black Moulin-Rouge inspired nightie.

Yesterday, Williams defeated Franchesca Schiavone, who won the French Open. Williams refers to Schiavone as "feisty" whereas Schiavone claims she doesn't think that the Williams sister likes to play her.

The big question, however, will come during Venus Williams' semi-finals match. She's paired up against rival Kim Clijsters, who won against both Venus and Serena. Last year, Clijsters was caught up in Williams sister drama, as she won the match against Serena during the famed foot fault scandal.

After a foot fault call, Serena Williams went off on a tirade, cussing out the official who made the call. The video of her waving the tennis ball defensively and screaming went viral. As a result, she was fined a record $82,500.

Of the tennis outfit, Venus Williams is quoted as saying It's like a burst of fireworks. It's a celebration of me playing my best, obviously at home, and kind of doing what I love and being able to wear something fun while I do it."

Many people frown on her over-the-top fashion. In particular her French Open outfit garnered a lot of sideways glances and controversy. Although some people don't particularly like her choice in attire - they seem to ignore it. One benefit, however, is that it creates attention for tennis.

I mean - what would the tournament be without a little drama and flair? Just match after match, set after set, of people wearing the same types of outfit. In somewhere like New York, fashion reigns - and it gives people something to appreciate.

Although it's not as showy or controversial as the Australian Open and French Open outfits, the hot pink dress catches attention. Maybe it's part of her strategy - distract the opponent.

This tournament's attire wasn't as controversial. Maybe Venus Williams US Open 2010 outfit is just what the doctor ordered to help her win the title. IT will be interesting to see how she does in her semifinal round against Kim Clijsters.
