Lonely, feeling she is someone who will never become
She gives the love of her life her all; everything
Why doesn't he appreciate something; anything
Selfishly, he blames her for his own regrets
She is paving the way for "them", he forgets
She has started a great career in which she should be proud
He says she's nothing better than a waitress, repetitively loud
Financially and emotionally she has paid the way for the both of them
Done more than a single person could, just to show her care for him
In return he shows her fault, degradation, and threats
Out of control he is to her now, no more disrespects
Only recent, vicious cycles of anger is all he seems to know; he's lost his controls
Breaking and throwing her personal belongings, doors decorated, new holes
Soon she fears will be the day, his anger will reach her body, her face
Running away from him in his anger, the bedroom door, she does race
Directly behind her, pursuing the fight further, she can't shut the door
Turning her thoughts into panic and fright, she pushes him; "survivor"
Regretful that she put her hands upon him, she had to make aware
She wasn't to put up with his verbal abuse and threats, beware
Guilty of the worst crimes in a relationship were they both; to each other
Her hands should have never pushed on his chest, a reaction she'd done never
His continuous insults, threats, and anger had driven her to what she had done
Leaving both of them in mental anguish and multitudes of unexplainable pain
Why couldn't he just leave her alone, let her get away and let time remain?
In pursuit to control her, always demeaning her, bombarding her
Resulting in constant ponders, her love deep, whilst his was where?
Time apart the best answer, or was it time she set him free
Her life she never imagined, now close to being a vivid reality
Pain and anguish, her head down whenever he is present or near
Strong she might seem, but eye contact she would not indulge in her fear
He would see the pain in her eyes, she must hide her weakness, disappear
Her life she strives to improve, finally resulting to the positive
Until the evening when they meet, happiness gone, dismissive
Happily she walks into the room, the lectures and attitudes are her "hello"
The sunshine of day gone from her sight, a bad mood now all she can bestow
Always reminded he has paid for dinner and her smokes
Always the issue of the things she needs, he pokes
Is this how he shows his love, by threatening to take them away?
All that ever matters is how much on her he did spend that day
Telling her he is stupid for buying her dinner when all day she hadn't eaten
Never spending any money, not just her mind, now her body taking a beaten
From 6 a.m. until 2 a.m. she has work and school to occupy her mind
Being told she didn't work, useless, and alone in the world she was to find
Investing in everything she does to make a brighter and more comfortable home
For her son and what she thought was the love of her life, what now is to come?
A few days and things seem to calm; thoughts fill her mind things will improve
Submissively she forgets what has been done, instantly he starts with his disprove
Everything is her fault, his unhappiness in his life are hers to blame
All she does never enough, unappreciated, her investment in vain
Decisions is becoming clearer now with each and every passing moment
Realization one day he will see, too late it shall be, she does comment
Blaming her that she hasn't tried, all her fault why they are falling apart
Emotionally tied to him, she begins to see the time they shall depart
Best for the both of them, emotionally and physically, she must set him free
Her mind and body weak and exhausted, she is a survivor, fine she will be
He knows it as well, the fear apparent in his eyes, she is on her way
Not many chances left for him to beg her once again to please stay
The decision is really his to make, whether with her or without her, is he willing to change
Meantime, her finances improving, she prepares herself to leave him and his derange
Repair doesn't seem an option, but she won't leave with "what if's" and regrets
One last chance of compromise, she sends a message asking only for his respects
To love her and treat her right; is he prepared to make everything again alright
Or to end right now, either decision, his, they would discuss together tonight
She would not live in pain and fear any more, those days were gone, removed
A hard struggle ahead, with or without him, she knew she would make it improved
Her life's rewards were just starting, and if it wasn't meant for them to be
Prepared for either outcome, her answers would finally be answered, see
Whether or not he ever loved her would become clear to her finally
His decision would prove whether he was in it financially or emotionally
