The Governor of Rhode Island Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Roberts officially welcomed FiOS TV yesterday on a ribbon cutting ceremony at Warwick. A convey of 10 Verizon service caravans started from the inauguration place towards different service addresses for first time installation at Rhode Island.
According to press Verizon communication announced that the customers of seven Rhode Island communities (Coventry, East Greenwich, Exeter, North Kingstown, Warwick, West Greenwich and West Warwick) will be the first to avail Verizon's FiOS TV.
According to Verizon press release, Donna Cupelo, Verizon's region president in Rhode Island and Massachusetts said during this accession "Today is a great day for Rhode Island and Verizon. For the first time, residents in these communities will have a choice in how they get their TV service. Verizon's introduction of FiOS TV breaks down the walls of the legacy TV industry by bringing more choices, better picture, better value and more entertainment. And it's delivered through an unparalleled fiber-optic network that's designed for the future, but being built by Verizon today".
Who have little less information on Verizon's FiOS TV services for them here is a brief about this service as quoted from Verizon.com - "Verizon FiOS Internet Service is a broadband service designed to provide Internet access with maximum connection speeds of up to 50 Mbps or 30 Mbps downstream and 5 Mbps upstream, depending on where you live. FiOS is provided on our state-of-the-art fiber-optic network. The consumer packages include a standard suite of services including access to newsgroups, up to 9 Verizon.net email accounts, online services, and 10 MB of personal Web space. Optional services are also available for a fee.
Connection speeds are between your location and the Verizon central office serving your location. Actual download and upload speeds will vary based on numerous factors, such as the condition of wiring at your location, computer configuration, Internet and network congestion, and the speed of website servers you access, among other factors. Speed and uninterrupted use of the service are not guaranteed."
