Vermont Fall Apple Festivals

With fall around the corner, the air is crisper and leaves will soon be changing to their vibrant colors of gold, reds and oranges. Take a trip to Vermont at its peak foliage and visit our Apple Festivals.

The Vermont Apple Festival and Craft Show is now in its 27th year, and falls on Columbus Day weekend, October 10th and 11th. It is held at the Riverside Middle School in Springfield Vermont. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and students, kids under the age of 5 get in free. They have regional musicians and featured performers. They also have animal exhibits, wagon rides, hand-pressed apple cider, pumpkin painting, and great food, such as homemade fudge.

They have a beautiful selection of handmade crafts made by artisans from all over New England. Some of the crafts offered will be pressed florals, quilts, American Girl Doll clothes, painted items, and candles.

If you have always been complemented on the delicious apple pie that you make, then why not enter in their pie baking contest on Sunday. Pies need to be in by 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, and the contest will take place at 12:00 p.m. Entry of your pie in the contest will be you admission fee for that Sunday. You pie must be accompanied by ingredients. There are two categories that the pies are entered in, Traditional, or Non Traditional. The first place prize is $50. second place is $25, and third place is $10. Whatever pie that remains, will be sold in pieces, and the money will go to charity. The Dummerston Apple Pie Festival, which has been going on for more than 40 years, is held on Sunday October 11th. The hours of this show are 7a.m. to 4 p.m. Start your morning with their fireman's pancake breakfast at the grange, and then go the craft show at the Dummerston Congregational Church. You will see a beautiful selection of wood products, primitives, florals, etc. Other products they offer are Vermont cheddar cheese, sweet cider, on-the-premise made doughnuts, ice cream, and Vintage Treasures.

They offer over 1400 apple pies. You may purchase the whole pie, or buy it by the slice. The pies are made by the church members and their families. They are absolutely scrumptious. For more information go to www.vtliving.com.
