A group of friends go out on a trip to Las Vegas to have a bachelor party. This leads to a night of illegal drugs and a sexy night with a hooker. All seems to be going well until one of them accidentally kills the prostitute. Now faced with the decision on whether or not to call the cops, the groups decides to bury her body in the desert. The question is, will they all keep this a secret?
This is a dark comedy that you have to acquire a taste for. I found it to be a madly funny movie, although offensive at times if you take it too seriously. This parody of the American dream makes for a kind of black humor rarely seen. Christian Slater is the most crazed character in the movie and does an excellent job at it. Unforgettable, swarthy and most of all enjoyable with a top-notch cast.
Stylishly written and directed. This is the first time Peter Berg has tried material this dark and scores with the witty dialog and twisted humor. An unseemingly funny movie with an ending that might disgruntle many, but I felt that the ending just added to the dusky humor. It is sometimes hard to like a movie that display events that aren't funny into something that you feel guilty laughing at. This is an accomplishment that many filmmakers fail to succeed at but when they do, you can't help but admire this feat.
I loved this movie and highly recommend it to those who enjoy very dark humor. Christian Slater is the showcase here, displaying a comically perverse character. The type that you love to hate. The rest of the cast do exceptionally well. Shockingly entertaining roller coaster ride of mayhem that makes for a frequently bloody and frequently funny film. 3.5/5 stars
