Very Beautiful Knitting Technique Mobius Knitting Instructions

Susan Kaul
Knitting is a wonderful part of my life. I struggled for years to learn how to knit. Finally a nurse friend of mine was able to teach me. The crazy thing is many people tried to teach me without success. I just couldn't get it. I became so frustrated, I didn't want to even try anymore. Then as I said, my nurse friend was sitting across from me in the nursing lounge and I was watching her knit. It was painful, I wanted to learn so badly. She noticed me watching and asked if I knitted. I told her my story and how frustrating it was for me. She handed me some needles and yarn and sat across from me and said "do what I do when I do it"

Well, believe it or not it was so easy. I picked it up in seconds. Why? My friend was left handed, I am right handed. When I sat across from her it was like looking in a mirror. My brain accepted it, It just made sense to me. I got it! I was knitting! Everyone else that had tried to teach me were all right handed. My brain was not wired to accept it.

I have been knitting ever since. It has been over thirty years that I have enjoyed knitting. My favorite things to knit are baby clothing. Booties, sweaters, jackets, socks, blankets, it really doesn't matter. In fact I love to knit things in advance of someone getting pregnant, so I can be ready. I get a pregnancy announcement and I have my present already made. A gorgeous handmade with love, precious baby item.

There are so many styles of knitting, it is hard to decide which one might be a favorite. But I have found someone that helps me decide to try new things. Her name is Cat Bordhi. She has many great ideas and videos that teach so wonderfully. Knitting does not have to be just purl and knit. It can be so much more.

The knitting style and technique that this video is going to teach you is called Moebius. It will show you the Moebius cast on as well as knitting. It is fascinating. I absolutely love it and it is not overly difficult. It is considered an advanced knitting technique But it is really very doable.

The Mobius shape is a never ending twisted loop that can be turned into a bowl, scarf or purse strap to name a few ideas. Mobius is knitted on a circular needle wrapped around itself making a double layer.

Don't be intimidated. And once you learn it you just keep thinking of different ways to utilize it. So please if you love to knit, you must give this a try. You just might get hooked.

I didn't see the video, but can agree that it is really very simple with the right instructor. :-)

Don't be silly, Of course you are not cheating. But it is wonderful to feel the clicking of the needles as you watch your work progress. I hope you take the time to learn, you will love it.

I've never had anyone willing to teach me. I'd love to find lessons at the library or somewhere else local. I knit scarves, hats, and blankets on a loom. They turn out great, but I feel like I'm cheating. :)

I have always wanted to learn to knit. Maybe if I watch a left-handed knitter, it will click!
