According to the U.S. Department of Labor, veterinary technicians, referred to as vet techs for short, earn an average salary of $36,000 per year in the state of Texas. Combine this statistic with the job stability that is offered in the field of veterinary technology, and you have a rewarding career both financially and psychologically. The job of a vet tech isn't an easy one, however, and there is a strict set of standards that one must meet in order to become a licensed veterinary technician with the state of Texas.
