This is the weekend when we're commemorating the deaths of soldiers who fought in past and present wars, which to me is the equivalent of Mass Murderers Day. I know how controversial it is to make such a statement and I make it with the understanding that it will provoke rage among the less evolved because it challenges their belief system. When people feel the constructs of their reality threatened the immediate reaction is to start spitting, clawing and hissing; until the dust settles and their mindset shifts slightly to allow new knowledge to be introduced and then they re-write the script indicating they believed all along that it was morally deplorable to celebrate professional killers.
I am neither the first nor the originator of expressing disgust at military establishments and the people who fill their ranks; organized systems of superior killing and mass slaughter is the most offensive contribution man can make to humanity. When governments of death invade the power structure like Nixon and Reagan and Bush Junior have in recent history, they reduce the entire world into a place for America to dominate and subjugate and rob of its resources. The military serves to feed individual thirst for power and quench the greed of war profiteers while cloaking their death march in patriotism, religious and political ideology or false threats that there are imminent and catastrophic in nature. In order to manipulate average citizens into joining the military and/or supporting wars the government and the military must lie.
The American government and military lied to invade Iraq, lied to cover up the killing of Pat Tillman by fellow American soldiers, fabricated a mammoth lie about Jessica Lynch to increase support for a war becoming more unpopular by the day and lies to protect its Blackwater Christian militia in Iraq that is killing citizens on the streets with impunity. The prisoners at Abu Graib and Guantanamo are tortured and humiliated by soldiers, that little girl that was raped, killed and then her entire family killed was done by soldiers, countless mass slaughters and massacres and war crimes are being committed by soldiers and we're supposed to celebrate them?
No. I think not.
There is a virulent element of racism that runs through all these wars in the Middle East that I am not comfortable with, white Christians attacking brown Muslims and then labelling them the terrorists? This is not a Freedom March making Iraq and Afghanistan safe for democracy, this is Imperialism based in racism and xenophobia and hate, oppression and control and this is all done at the hands of soldiers.
The baby boomers are obsessed with their own lie and propaganda that soldiers died for us to be free and they are furiously clinging to this belief, they turn on anyone who would challenge such a faulty narrative. This is a generation that is going to have to be forcibly removed from power if we are going to evolve into active, fair and peaceful members of this global community we live within.
There is no draft, the soldiers willingly signed up to kill for country and corporation and they are not to be celebrated they are to be condemned and rightfully labelled as killers and war criminals. The Nuremburg trials in Europe sent a very clear message: soldiers can no longer claim they were following orders when committing atrocities.
Today I memorialize and commemorate the victims of the soldiers: innocent men, women and children.

Post a CommentLets not forget to reprimand Exterminators, Police Officers and every human being that has a job. Where do you get off thinking that you can go around killing bugs wherever you are asked to do so. Where do you Police Officers get off thinking that it's okay to protect people and keep people in line. You should never voluntarily go into a hostile situation for any reason. Also, if you have a job... don't do it. /sarcasm
RJT,
Very well put. I am a Marine Corps brat. The fact is I grew up knowing about honour and serving your country, but I also believe that Governments to keep in balance must follow the balance presented before them to keep.
Though we are placed in bad situations there are always worse and I have made many young gentlemen and ladies very upset when I told them how I felt about them going into the Military right now.
Bravo on your piece, very well put.
Sincerely,
Aingealicia
P.S. sorry about the grammar in the first part I wrote - my cold meds are making my thoughts inconsistent but I think you will understand what I was trying to say lol - I hope anyway. :D
I agree with killing those who killed Americans on 9-11 and troops thereafter but I don't agree with killing innocent civilians in Iraq or where ever else. Maybe if we can elect a good leader this time around more of us will find reason to respect and appreciate veterans day. In the end, I do appreciate what our soldiers have done to keep us safe but despise our leaders who give bad orders and make bad decisions. Great article - it will make others think.
As a former Marine here's the way I see it. You have a bunch of kids who weren't exactly well off to begin with and flaunt college money in front of them as well as a small amount of financial stability for as long as they choose to stay in. Many Soldiers and Marines, including myself, used the military as a way of escaping a bad situation. That's where the fairytale ends. We then become puppets for our rat bastard political leaders and while we love America we fight for causes we don't believe in for the most part. I don't support the war but we have to support our troops if not the generals and civilian leaders who are ignorant, egotistical fascists...
