All military personnel go through out-processing when exiting the military. This process allows you to create a resume, and teaches you how to interview. The military also has a job transitioning program for those who will work in the civilian or government industries. However, this process doesn't give you access to specific companies hiring in your specialized military field of work, or create work opportunities for disabled veterans.
Healthcare for those in the military is provided. The soldier doesn't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. However, those who leave the military with good conduct don't always have the same opportunities. Some retired veterans, may have to continue to use military medical facilities because of expensive healthcare cost. Some may have injuries or illness due to activity while in service. Disabled veterans are not able to get Veterans Health Insurance unless they have 100% service-connected disabilities, or are retired. However, they do have access to the VA Medical Hospitals for service- connected disabilities. Most disabled veterans have to pay expensive premiums for civilian healthcare because of their disabilities, and may even be denied coverage for previous illness, or injuries.
There are several benefits available for veterans. However, processing time for any benefits may take 2-4 years. Veterans are required to file claims for benefits in a timely manner, but Veteran Affairs has a turnaround time of 2 years or more for claims. Veterans with service-connected disabilities may need compensation for injuries received, but it may take Veteran Affairs years before they finish the claim. This also includes education benefits. The livelihood of the veteran and their family suffers.
Benefits for veterans should be accessible to all who served the military with good conduct. The Veterans Affairs should improve the quality a claim is handle for veterans. All veterans who served should receive all benefits available to them in a timely manner, for providing service for this country.

Military Retirees have paid their premiums
Military retirees have paid their premiums by time and service rendered. Although budget items are of great concern, how do you take or cut from those who already paid. In many circumstances, the price they have paid is far more then the benefits they have earned and are entitled to.
There are areas in TRICARE that the DoD can work to reduce the overall budget and at the same time, not hurt the beneficiary. TRICARE Standard is by far the best plan for retires vs. Prime, this is a good starting place for the DoD to consider. Even though TRICARE Standard is a good place for the beneficiary, they still need a TRICARE Supplemental Insurance Plan
