Florissant Valley Memorial Post 4105 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars was recognized by the City of Florissant on May 26, 2009 for 40 years of helping veterans in Florissant and other north St Louis County communities. Florissant Mayor Robert G. Lowery and the Florissant City Council presented the veterans group the key to the City of Florissant for their years of sustained civic activity in Florissant.

Accepting the award for VFW Post 4105 was Commander John Daab and Commander-elect David Miller, both of Florissant. When asked by Mayor Lowery to say a few words Commander Daab and Commander-elect Miller both spoke briefly about the role of the VFW as veterans' advocates in communities such as Florissant. All three leaders expressed the conviction that VFW Post 4105 and the City of Florissant will continue to work together for the benefit of the community and its veterans.

In part the Proclamation issued by the Office of the Mayor, City of Florissant reads, "...I, Robert G Lowery, SR., Mayor of the City of Florissant do hereby recognize Florissant Valley Memorial Post 4105 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars on all their dedication to their Post in the City of Florissant."

Other members of VFW Post 4105 attending the ceremony were Joe "Doc" Quick, Steve Vogt, and Newell "Lou" Luethje, all of Florissant. Steve Vogt commented on the 40th anniversary of the Post on July 12, 2009 and invited all veterans and non veterans to visit 4105's open house to help celebrate that day.
