VH1 Tool Academy 2 Episode 7 Commentary Review

In the Tool We Trust

Gabrielle Rice
The show opened with the tools sitting around the dinning room table discussing how they feel about being the final five. They are excited that they are so close to winning the $100,000. Stew expresses his dreams of using the money to buy trailers and renting them out. The other tools displayed a poor attempt of hiding their laughter.

Then, they go to the therapy room Therapy is still a task they dread. Trina welcomed them and expressed she is pleased with their progress, but they still have a long way to go. This week's session is about trust. Trina made the tools take a lie detector test. The girlfriends came up with the questions. After the fidelity lesson, I didn't think there were any more secrets the tools were hiding. I was wrong.

The tools are nervous. Stew states that he didn't know how to fake a lie detector test. He tried faking a breathalyzer test once and failed. Um...Ok. Frank said, "I hate the truth." Apparently, Frank likes lies because ignorance is bliss. The lie detector showed that these guys are beyond being tools. They are an embarrassment to decent men everywhere.

For example, T. Shaw admitted to sleeping with three of Nicole's friends. Well, he thinks it was only three. Apparently, he did it so much that he is not certain of the number. Yikes!

Now, if you think T. Shaw was horrible, what do you think of Charm coming out of the closet with ten indiscretions. That's right ten. STD tests anyone? Seriously, if my boyfriend came out with that I would be freaked out. Andrea and Nicole were disgusted with their boyfriends, as well they should be.

Frank admitted to telling lies that Christina didn't know about. However, he couldn't remember what they were. This got Frank into some real hot water. This really upset Christina and she cried to him to become a man and own up to his lies. Frank confessed in his private interview that through the course of their two and a half year relationship, he honestly could not remember all the white lies he told. I think Frank might need private therapy sessions for this problem.

Stew did well on his test. Amanda was relieved that Stew found her attractive. They don't have sex as often as she would like and Amanda thought it was because of her body. Amanda also found out that Stew wants to spend the rest of his life with her.

Tyler lied about being comfortable in his relationship with Shea. He said that it come out as a lie because they have been through so much recently. A disheartened Shea felt it was too soon (again) to wear the promise rings. She gave them back to Tyler (again).

After therapy, the tools sat in their room and discussed the session. This is a change from the usual toga parties they have after therapy. Stew admitted to his classmates that he rather win the $100,000 than fix his relationship with Amanda. His classmates were stunned. He admitted this during the lie detector test, but it did not come up in therapy. Stew explains that with the lessons he has already learned at Tool Academy he could fix the relationship at home, but he couldn't get a $100,000 from home.

The next day is the trust challenge. Nicole was still mad at T. Shaw and really didn't want to see him. Christina was still disgusted with Frank's lying nature and didn't want to see him. Andrea said in the past she would have quickly forgiven Charm for something he did, but it is different this time. Tool Academy is helping her change as well and she is not so quick to forgive ten indiscretions. Charm notices that Andrea is still upset with him because she wouldn't kiss him hello.

The challenge requires the women to walk blind folded through an obstacle course. The tools had to talk them through the obstacle course. These poor girls had mice dropped on them. Ewww! Don't you think these poor girls been through enough? The girlfriends also had to drive a golf cart blind folded to complete the challenge. Bodily injury anyone?

Stew and Amanda won the challenge. They got a romantic date on the grounds. A bed was set up behind some trees. They also received snacks and champagne. This is a 100% better than the skeevy conjugal visit room from last week. That room made me itch. During the date, Stew confessed his $100,000 secret to Amanda. She asked him why he would say yes to that. He explained himself and she bought it. However, Amanda made it clear that even if they do win $100,000 he would still need to get a job. Stew was resistant to this idea.

Trina's discussion with the girlfriends before elimination was a bit boring so lets skip to the elimination ceremony. Stew was first in the class this week. Trina was very pleased at how well he did in the challenge. She was also impressed with his honesty and understanding with Amanda in therapy. Tyler was called up second. T. Shaw is third. Frank and Charm are called up next. Jordan made it clear that one of them was leaving tonight. I actual thought we were going to make it through an episode without Charm bashing, but Frank ruined that. How about this Frank, if you spent your time worrying about Christina than Charm then you wouldn't be struggling in the academy. Unfortunately, this advice is too late for Frank because he was expelled. By the way he carried himself out of the room you could tell he did not take it well. Frank meets Christina on the black box outside. She asked what happened. Frank admitted that it was because of the therapy session. He kept skating around his lies. Frank pleaded his case to Christina to convince her to stay with him. Christina kissed him and said, "I love you, but I can't do this anymore." She left in the limo alone and cried as it drove off. This was Frank's last chance and he blew it.

Hold on to your hats, it's time for the toolishness of the week! Frank couldn't control himself anymore. He tore his shirt off and said, "She's gone. Now, get the bleeping cameras out of my face." He stalked around like a raging bull about to bulk and continued his verbal rampage. Frank claimed that the person he lost to didn't care about his girl. Charm was there to promote himself and he was fake and so on. The girlfriends watched Frank's show in shocked silence. The tools were on the balcony as they watched Frank explode. The tools silently went back inside. As Charm closed the balcony door, I thought I saw a smug look on his face. I don't blame Charm for being happy that Frank was eliminated. For one thing, if Frank hadn't left that meant Charm would have left. The second thing is that Frank was becoming a pain in the rear. He was so worried about what Charm was doing or not doing that he lost focus. Frank has no one to blame, but himself for his expulsion and for losing Christina.
