VH1 Undateable: Episode 1 Recap

I confess, last night after taking in my weekly fix of VH1 Tough Love Couples, I watched the first of a five night installment special, VH1 Undateable. The show is a countdown of the top 100 disgusting, stupid, and tacky things men do that make them undateable. Last night counted down from 100 through 80, the next episode will feature the next 20.

VH1 tends to lack in the humor department and VH1 Undateable is no exception, but there are a few funny moments, and the list of don'ts are pretty good.

According to VH1, You're Undateable If...

You drive a rolling trashcan

When your car doubles as a Got Junk pick-up van, you're undateable. I must wholeheartedly agree with VH1 on this. If you can't clean out your car, there are likely a lot of other things you're not doing; personal hygiene would be my next concern upon seeing a vehicle in this state. Women can be guilty of this as well, but we're talking about men, so I'm going to stick to the topic.

You always wear a blue tooth headset

This one used to aggravate me to no end when the blue tooth first came out and I was living in New York City; it seemed that everyone was on one at all times. Since the initial emergence of the blue tooth there has been discussion of cell phone etiquette, especially where dating is concerned. Nowadays there just is no excuse for being that rude jerk at the dinner table, taking calls all night rather than getting to know or paying attention to your date. A guy who does this is a rude, undateable jerk.

You order wine at a public sporting event

I have actually never seen a guy do this, but I do think it would frighten the hell out of me. Can you imagine going to a football or baseball game, ordering a beer, and then hearing your good friend or date, Bob, ask the stadium concessions attendant for a white wine spritzer or Merlot? I'm sure there are exceptions, there may be a guy out there who does this and is otherwise completely cool and dateable, but for the most part, ordering wine at a sporting event is probably a sign of a guy who is not dating material.
