VI. Pain

Brett LaFave
In my life of dreams, my only produce is the produce of pain. Dreams are full of pain, and they are full of growth. But growth is a rate, not a quantity. Growth is also a luxury that many cannot afford. Until I establish a tangible niche for myself, I will wait in comfort for my opportunity. Only when I scrape away portions of the cushioning that protects me am I free to feel the sting of pain; only then will I be free to grow beyond finite bounds. When growth is artificial, there is only pain.

I grew up in the Northeast, attended Arizona State University, and dragged my poor Southwestern wife back to the snow with me. I'm just trying to make my way in the world.  View profile
