Victoria Point a Slice of Paradise Www.Vickypoint.Com

Petalac
Victoria Point affectionately called Vickypoint by locals is approximately 33 kilometres south-east of Brisbane Australia, nestled on the shores of beautiful Moreton bay. Victoria Point is home to over 15,000 people, who enjoy this little touch of paradise everyday.

Some of the best beaches are Thompson's Beach, a small kids safe beach which has a very shallow slope allowing a long tide.

Wilsons Esplanade is another great place for kids to play on the low tide, they can watch the world famous blue soldier crabs, marching up and down the beach by the thousands in a wave of psychedelic blue, its really wicked to see.

Both of these choice family friendly areas, have BBQs and playgrounds as well as the sweet views across the bay to Stradbroke island (Straddie) and the Bay islands.

At the actual Point on Colburn Ave, there are two boat ramps for boat entry to Moreton Bay, as well as the Vehicular ferry and Passenger ferry to Coochiemudlo Island. There is also the Volunteer Marine Rescue unit based here, doing a excellent job keeping us all safe, whilst in the water.

Koalas are an important part of the Redland area and Victoria Point is home to several greeny reserves. Point Halloran Conservation Reserve and Eprapah Environmental Centre are both places to check out koalas in the wild, and go bushwalking on organised walking trails. Egret Colony Wetlands, home to many species of birdlife, is another haven for nature lovers in the area.

Shopping facilities have grown amazingly in the last few years, with now four or five supermarkets, a public library, Cinema complex and many specialty shops and lakeside restaurants. Set around the beautiful Lake Victoria, check out the many different types of birdlife and the cheeky turtles sussing you out, while sipping your favourite beveridge or munching on breakfast, lunch or dinner. The cinemas are pretty new and flash with all the latest techno gizmo.

Sports have we got sport? yep and plenty of it. Aussie rules, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Soccer, Bowls, Golf, Softball, Netball, Basketball, Fishing, Cricket, Indoor cricket,Swimming,Tennis, and much much more, many of these sports are organised by local clubs, such as the Victoria Point Sharks Club the YMCA and other great clubs in the area.
