Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Hot Cocoanut Lip Gloss Review

The Pen
I always shop at Victoria's Secret for underwear, but every time I've been in line to pay I've noticed the little displays set up in front of the registers. They feature small toiletries and make up to entice people to buy these products on impulse.

I usually notice their Beauty Rush Lip Glosses and have wanted to try a tube, but I always stopped myself because I have way too many lip glosses at home. I probably would have never tried it but one day I happened to notice that my mom happened to have a tube of the Beauty Rush Lip Gloss on her counter. The Hot Cocoanut shade that she bought looked like it would work on me too, so I tried it on.

The $7 Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Lip Gloss felt like I was putting a lacquer on my lips. It's like pure gloss, it's not very creamy or even all that heavy, but it does feel smooth and thick.I liked that it gave my lips a ton of shine and even after drinking and eating it lasted for a few hours. I also enjoyed that the Beauty Rush wasn't super sticky or as thick as other glosses can be.

The Hot Cocoanut color looks like the shade of toasted coconut or like a glass of champagne that's been mixed with a bit of cocoa. It's a really pretty color in the tube, it looks like a light bronze shade with tons of gold sparkles in it.

I thought the color would really show up on my lips but it wound up being more transparent than I thought. So this Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush basically just looked like a clear gloss, which was a little disappointing because I like color. The gold shimmer in this is somewhat noticeable though, and it made my lips shimmer when light hit them.

To me the best part of this lip gloss is the scent. It smells like coconut and chocolate, and at times it even smells like bananas to me, all of these scents smell lovely to me. I think the awesome scent made the Beauty Rush gloss really fun and enjoyable to use.

Overall though, I'd have to say that I'm not as crazy about lip glosses as I used to be, but if I was back in high school I'd probably be all over the Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush in Hot Cocoanut, because it's clear, shiny, and shimmery. Nowadays, I prefer a more matte and colorful lip, so the Beauty Rush gloss isn't my thing.

If I was going to buy a tube of it however, I would choose a brighter or darker color that would show up against my skin, the Hot Cocoanut is much too sheer for me. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
