Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Luminous Shadow 'In the Mink' - Product Review

Not Just Good with Undergarments

Layla A.
While I have not liked a number of other Victoria's Secret products, I had a chance to pick-up one of their luminous shadows and was thoroughly impressed. I am not saying all of their beauty products are good, but they do have their highpoints. Before, my favorites were the Body Double Mists, but this eyeshadow in In the Mink may have replaced my Appletini.

COLOR

In the Mink is a brown-taupe with hints of gray and lots of sparkle. It is great for a pop in a neutral eye or to tone down a crazy look. It is pretty much the perfect gray-brown and goes on like the perfect gray-brown. Because of the applicator, it is also very easy to get the neutral pop of color under the lower lashes and makes it look great.

FORMULA

Because of all the glitter in this shadow, it can get messy upon application. It can get all over the eye area and fall on the cheeks, but the color is very easy to blend. It can be built-up to an intense, rich chocolate brown or it can be put on lightly a slight tint of color. It is very soft, but not creamy like an Urban Decay shadow. The pigmentation is decent, but that is to be expected from a loose shadow. Overall, for the price, this is a pretty good formula- I just wish they would bring it down a few notches on the glitter and sparkles.

FUNCTIONALITY

Because of the funky top, this is a very functional product. It is a stick with a smudger sponge on the end. While I like the sponge, people who are religious with brushes might not like this as it is the only way to get the product out. I do agree it is kind of a challenge to blend with, but if you just get the color on your eye, there shouldn't be many problems. As I stated before, this is perfect for color on the lower lash line or precise color in the crease.

PACKAGING

The packaging is like nothing I've ever seen before. It is basically a cone shape, the product on the bottom. You then unscrew the silver top to find your applicator, product already on it. I have to say, I think this is a really cool concept. It makes the shadow stay clean and really helps with application, in my experience.

PRICE

Luminous Shadows go for $7, but you can traditionally find deals like 2 for $12. Honestly, I think it is worth it just to try out the nifty applicator.

FINAL OPINIONS

I really enjoy my In the Mink Luminous Shadow. Would I go out and purchase all of the other colors? Probably not. But, I am very happy I got to try this out and I will use every last bit. I really recommend trying one of these- good color selection, decent pricing, and a very cool concept as far as application goes. Victoria's Secret has finally got me on their side.
