Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on CBS Tonight
Annual Event a New Holiday Tradition
The CBS television network tonight airs the seventeenth annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. It will be shown at 10 pm EST, and air in over 90 countries worldwide. CBS reports that the Nielsen rating agency found that over 9 million people watched the show last year in the U.S. alone.
One of the highlights of the show will be model Miranda Kerr modeling a $2.5 million dollar bra. The Australian beauty will wear the Fantasy Treasure bra, which is encrusted with about 3,400 precious gems. Kerr is married to Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom.
Other models appearing in the show include Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes, Erin Heatherton, Lily Aldridge, Lindsay Ellingson and Candice Swanepoel. In total, some 38 of Victoria Secret's "angels" will appear. Musical guests will be Nicki Minaj, Kanye West and Maroon 5.
The original shows were held ahead of the Valentine's Day Holiday. In 2001, ABC began the tradition of hosting the show prior to Christmas. CBS has hosted the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show since 2002.
The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is massively promoted by the "angels". Alessandra Ambrosio appeared on the KTLA Morning Show this morning. Miranda Kerr appeared on E!'s popular late night talk show Chelsea Lately last night. Doutzen Kroes and Lindsay Ellingson made a CBS News appearance yesterday.
Social media is being used to promote the show. The Victoria's Secret Facebook page and the Victoria's Secret Twitter account are answering questions and offering specials on merchandise and a contest. The hashtag for the show is #VSFashionShow.
It is an odd holiday tradition, beautiful women parading in exotic underwear. The tradition continues at 10 pm tonight on CBS.
