Perry Secures Republican Nomination in Bid for Third Term

Rick Perry walked away with the Republican nod in the Texas primary for his state's gubernatorial race after last night's primary election, according to the Washington Post. Perry, the current governor of Texas and in his bid for a third term, handedly won the Texas primary race against Kay Bailey Hutchison, senator from the Lone Star state, and Tea Party favorite Debra Medina and will face Democratic candidate Bill White, the former mayor of Houston, in the fall.

The three Republican Texas primary candidates spent the day before the vote campaigning furiously in this hotly contested race, as shown in the video from Austin News KXAN.
