Victory Over Sin

Amanda Kidd
Christians have been plagued and chained by Satan's strongholds of sin since Adam and Eve's trickery in the garden. The devil has masterminded while executing his plan to steal, kill, and destroy God's children. No wonder God cast him from heaven. Lucifer adored himself and convinced like minded angels to favor him over God because he wanted to replace God. His jealous, selfish desires to replace the Most High, lead to the battles that we toil with today called sin. Many will dispute the popular saying, "The devil made me do it," but if your spirit lacks God's fruit of the spirit which is love, patience, kindness, goodness, peace, and joy, filled with faithfulness and self control, one should reevaluate the dispute. The Sovereign Lord says the acts of the sinful nature are transparent, such as sexual immorality, impurity, hatred, idolatry, anger, jealousy, and beyond. Basically, disobeying the Ten Commandments, decrees, and statues of God's is sin. God said, "If we admit we're sinners, He'll purify us from all sin." While some may believe they are sinless, the Word says, "All have fallen short of the glory." Our Father in heaven cannot deliver us unless we submit to God and resist the devil.

Sin is an evil, addictive spirit and man cannot deliver themselves. God is not suggesting that we are devils; the message is sin is of the devil and when sin resides in us be it willful or unintentional; it is the devil because it was Satan's evil spirit who influenced Eve to disobey God, and that is sin. That must have been some tasty fruit, but the devil is the liar who's responsible for calamities and curses because of sin. Overcoming sin takes dedication, sincere prayer, repentance, fellowshipping, fasting, studying the Word, and lastly, self control because the flesh is weak. Many struggle with sin because they lack self control. God gives us a choice, freewill to serve Him or the enemy. He will not force obedience, so we must put on the full armor of God to stand strong against Satan. God will deliver us from all sin once we decide to completely obey His Word.

Amen to this Amanda. We can not deliver ourselves...so very true. I thank God that Jesus' blood has made the victory possible. But, as you wisely say, God will not force us to obey. Its is our free will. You have such a great base of theological knowledge Amanda. I am so impressed with your artices; such a godly woman writer is truly a blessing to AC & to me personally. Well done. : - )
