Video: Barack Obama Finally Admits that He Lied About Healthcare Transparency

Marc Schenker
Barack Obama has finally, at long last, admitted that he lied about healthcare transparency as it relates to his much-mocked and much-maligned, empty promise to put on C-SPAN negotiations concerning his ill-fated drive for healthcare "reform." In comments that were very carefully and slyly buried in a long, one-and-a-quarter-hour speech and Q&A session a couple of days ago in Nashua, NH, Obama very briefly touched on his failure to live up to promises to televise all the negotiations regarding healthcare on C-SPAN. When asked by little Ashley Sevins of Nashua High South about the grade he'd give himself regarding transparency in his administration, Obama grudgingly admitted that...yes...he does indeed deserve the criticism that he failed to put all of the negotiations on C-SPAN.

Obama was in Nashua to, originally, brag about his next, questionable proposal to magically give $30 billion more of your tax dollars to local, community banks to help them lend money to small businesses, yet the significance of his Q&A session quickly moved to the admission he finally made-after weeks of taking heat over his lie about transparency. Note that Obama didn't choose a venue that exactly allowed his admission to be broadcast in a place or opportunity where a lot of Americans would hear of it, mind you. Obama could've chosen a White House press conference, his State of the Union speech, or any other, high-profile speaking engagement, but...no! He chooses a little, out of sight, Nashua high school to finally admit what everyone on both sides of the political spectrum has been criticizing him for. Clearly, this was an attempt to sneakily admit an embarrassment on his part, kind of like when he choose a long, holiday weekend to "fire" the communist Van Jones.

After talking to folks in a seemingly slavishly subservient, NH community where some of the people just looked like total pro-Obama zombies who would just follow him to the ends of the earth (just watch some of these questionable folks' weird grins in the video!), Obama got a question that probably surprised him a tad due to it not being 100% slavish and in fact containing a bit of criticism. Of course, since many of the adults in that Nashua high school seemed to be Obama-ites to the max, it fell on a little high school student (whose mind, perhaps, wasn't brainwashed by liberal media-induced, Obama love 100%) to ask a question which contained an implication of criticism.

Ashley Sevins started off her question by marking the contrast between Obama's campaign-where he excessively promised the world to everybody with no accountability about the possibility of it-and his actual record once in office. Her question centered on transparency, more to the point, the blatant lack of it regarding the healthcare negotiations. Then, she asked him to grade himself on transparency.

Now, this being Barack Obama, after all, instead of just being straightforward like a man and admitting his lack of transparency...he first talks up his administration's "transparency," claiming an "independent" watchdog gave it high marks for transparency (doubtful!). The audience in the high school-at this point, beyond the shadow of a doubt overflowing with the still die-hard members of the electorate who think he's doing a "good" job, making them a minority-then gullibly applauds him for his empty claims!

No matter, though, as here comes his admission. Said the president, "And, look, I made that commitment and I probably should have put it [healthcare negotiations] on C-SPAN...But I think it is a legitimate criticism to say, if you say that all of it is going to be on C-SPAN, all of it is going to be on C-SPAN." (Forward the video to 46:52 to watch both the question and his response)

Bingo! That wasn't so hard, was it Mr. Obama? Confession, as they say, is good for the soul-yes?-even yours. It's just a shame that it took him this long to be a man and finally admit what almost everyone on both sides of the aisle was criticizing him for. And he still gets a rebuke for admitting a very big lie in this very covert venue: an out-of-the-way venue where the topic is supposed to be his latest, intelligently challenged proposal to spend more of your money to supposedly get the economy started.

Despite the fact that Obama had admitted to lying and lack of transparency, the fanatically pro-Obama crowd actually cheered him when he made another, empty promise to follow up on his admission. Spinning his embarrassing admission, Obama promised to again put the negotiations between the GOP and the Democrats on healthcare on C-SPAN, which has no credibility because he's already lied about that (which is why he just admitted it, remember?) Still, proving more than ever how fanatically gullible they were, the crowd of die-hard Obama zombies applauded his BS-line just the same. Outrageous!

One more request, if you should happen to find an explanation of the 400 amendments the Republicans want to include in the financial reform bill, please include the URL in one of your future articles. Thanks.

Fron what I read in your article and from what I heard on C-SPAN, Obama did not lie. He admitted that transparency was not as good as promised. I'm glad you're tuning into C-SPAN. Although I am surprised that you haven't published more articles describing the Republican agenda on the various major issues we are facing today. Have you heard the latest on the financial reform debate? If you want an english explanation of the financial reform bill in the Senate, go the the Thomas Library Of Congress on the internet and look up the bill S.3217. The Republicans have two issues: Charging the banks a fee and the consumer financial credit issue. However, the debates will resume and I hope the Republicans submit their 400 amendments that they refuse to submit before the fillibuster.

God Bless little Ashley Sevins-without her question-would he have admitted it anyway?

For the life of me, I don't understand why anyone would ever believe anything BO has to say.

If a school girl can get this out of him, imagine what a real press Q&A would do.

I heard the admission but did not catch a reason for why the health care stuff wasn't on C-SPAN.
