Video of Baylor Women's Freshman basketball player Brittney Griner dunking is making it's rounds online these days. Griner dunked the basketball on Tuesday night for the Lady Bears. Griner made it look relatively easy as she went up inside and slammed home two for Baylor.

Women's basketball has certainly been evolving from an athletic standpoint but dunks like these are still relatviely few and far between. The video of Baylor freshman Brittney Griner dunking certainly makes it look as if there is more to come if she does it that easy. You can see the video for yourself at http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/blog/the_dagger/post/Video-Baylor-s-Brittney-Griner-becomes-seventh-?urn=ncaab,204891. It's quite awesome that Brittney Griner can go up with authority and throw it down. In other words, she wasn't on the run and leaping. The 6'8 Brittney Griner just exploded for the dunk as seen on the video. Perhaps Brittney Griner will continue to jump higher and then it might get ugly for Baylor opponents.

Candace Parker dunked several times but had still less than 10 dunks for her collegiate career. Candace Parker dunking wasn't a regular item at University of Tennessee games but she certainly had her brilliant share during college.

Much like Parker, Brittney Griner makes it look very smooth and athletic. The future of women's basketball is certainly bright and female athletes are only going to get better. Dunking may never be commonplace in the women's basketball game unless they lower the rims but expect a few more rising stars to begin throwing it down at the college level in the near future. I got a feeling we'll be seeing lots of Brittney Griner dunks in the next few years.
