Video: CNN Wrongly Reports MTV Banned Lady Gaga's "Telephone" Video

CNN wrongly reported Sunday that MTV has banned the latest Lady Gaga video for "Telephone," a nine-minute-plus epic reminiscent of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill cinema style that features Beyonce, Tyrese Gibson and is directed by Jonas Akerlund.

The "Telephone" video, which depicts prison lesbians, full frontal nudity from Lady Gaga and a mass poisoning, apparently was a little too over-the-top for MTV, according to this CNN video, but MTV flatly denied that report in a statement clarifying the music channel premiered the video Friday and will continue to show it. The ladies of CNN muse whether the Lady Gaga "Telephone" video will be harmful to Beyonce, who is known more for her sweet image in contrast to Lady Gaga's controversial one.

Although it seems CNN committed false reporting in this case, it would not be the first time MTV has had a run-in with banning videos. Before Lady Gaga and "Telephone," there was Madonna, queen of controversial videos, who has had several videos stir the ire of MTV censors, including "Justify My Love," which was banned in 1990.
