Video: Did Tim Donaghy Fix Game 3 of Spurs, Suns in the 2007 Playoffs?

Watch the Video and Decide for Yourself

On May 12th Game 3 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals, the Spurs battled the Suns in San Antonio. This game could go down as the worst officiated NBA game in all of history. It was horrible officiating as if the ref's were oblivious to everything going on around them. Most of the bad calls went in favor of the Spurs and one is to wonder was this game fixed? After watching this, you may assume what everybody else is assuming, that the game was fixed.

If you didn't catch it in this video Tim Donaghy was one of the referee's that night, and if you haven't already heard he is the referee being investigated by the F.B.I for fixing games and making personal bets on NBA games that he officiated and ones that he didn't officiate. It is being said that Tim Donaghy bet on games during the 2005-2006 season and 2006-2007 season in which he officiated roughly 140 games combined for both seasons. The F.B.I stated that Donaghy has a severe gambling problem and got mixed in with the wrong crowd.

One of the things in Game 3 of the Spurs-Suns match-up was that the terrible calls were always going in favor of the Spurs. None of the calls the refs were making were consistent. Those same calls that the refs were giving to the Spurs were not going in the favor of the Suns when the same situation happened to them as you can see in the video. At one point during the game, Bruce Bowen kneed Steve Nash in the inner thigh and that was about the only call Suns got their way all night. As for just this game alone, it provides hard evidence against Tim Donaghy and his alleged fixing games to go in his favor.

One has to wonder, is this the first time a referee has done before in any sport? Do you think this kind of thing has gone on before in the past? Myself personally, I don't believe this is the first time this kind of thing has happened, its just the first time somebody has been accused/caught. David Stern the commissioner of the NBA needs to get a grip on this situation before it gets any more out of hand. These players busts their butt's year around for a chance at winning a championship and for guys like Tim Donaghy who fix games, what's the use of the players even trying? Hopefully this gets resolved soon, and David Stern reassures everybody that this kind of thing won't happen again in the future.
