(Video) 'Eat, Pray, Love' Reviews: Lacks Depth, According to Critics

Hartley Engel
"Eat, Pray, Love" reviews are in. At the time of this writing, the Rottentomatoes Tomatometer (which measures "the percentage of positive reviews from Approved Tomatometer Critics for a certain movie") stands at 36%. The consensus reads as follows: "The scenery is nice to look at, and Julia Roberts is as luminous as ever, but without the spiritual and emotional weight of the book that inspired it, Eat Pray Love is too shallow to resonate."

James Berardinelli, the world's greatest online movie critic, gives the flick 1 ½ out of 4 stars. He believes a more appropriate title for the film should be "Vomit, Blaspheme, Hate" (ouch!). You can see the trailer below.

Not a Julia Roberts fan. She's overrated, got lucky with the "Pretty Woman" hit. However, she did a great job in "Erin Brockovich."

    Very disappointed with the movie.
So looking forward to it, the book is wonderful.

LOL@ Vomit, Blaspheme, Hate. I figure since I'm becoming Eastern Orthodox, I'd name it Fast. Chant. Sublimate. Probably wouldn't sell as well lol

I'm not really interested in seeing this film. Maybe I will be by the time it comes on DVD.

They could say that, but they'd be wrong.
